WHO ARE WE
Stal VDF is a very small breeding stable for jumping horses located in the beautiful Smeerebbe-Vloerzegem (Geraardsbergen), Belgium.
'Stal de Flierenhoek' is my stable name, based on the street where we live in, 'de Flierenhoek'. Sometimes you will also see horses with the suffix 'VDF', because some studbooks only allow a very limited number of characters for the horses' name.
How it started
Back over in 2008, after being into horses since the year 2000, I decided to breed my first foals. 8 Years later, in 2016, after 9 foals, I realised that if you want to achieve something in breeding, good quality is not enough, you will need excellent quality. Only the best is good enough. So I started looking for this quality...
I visited a lot of the top breeders in Europe, being very picky. I wanted to buy something special, something coming out of a broad family of sport horses, a large family of very good horses. But above all that, I needed also at least 1 excellent horse to be part of this family. After an intensive search of over 4 months, I found what I was looking for...
I was able to buy a 4-years old mare out of one of the best breeding lines in Belgium... thanks to Emile Van Rossem form stal van Klapscheut who gave me the possibility to start with this wonderfull story.
Madonna van Klapscheut is a sister of the famous Coriana van Klapscheut, which was WBFSH jumping n°20 in 2011 with Eric Lamaze. Coriana was his number one horse after the passing away of the legendary Hickstead in 2011. But Coriana is not the only excellent horse in this family... Fenia-, Fenom-, Farah-, Esquina-, Goriana-, Mugano-, Koriano van Klapscheut, all 160-level horses and many on their way to the top.
In the meantime we added some very interesting bloodlines to our breeding program thanks to a very good partnership. We are using the blood of Panama du Seigneur, Shana de Kerglenn (Jumpy de Kreisker) and Walnut de Muze...
